eSIM stands for “embedded SIM”, because everything you need is digitally built into your smartphone or tablet. Think of it as the evolution of the SIM card - it’s just like your old SIM, but better! Now there are no tiny holes or bits of plastic to deal with, so you never have to think about swapping out SIM cards again. Wave goodbye to the old and say hello to the future of mobile connectivity!

Not all devices are eSIM compatible. To use our service, you must ensure your phone is both network unlocked and eSIM compatible before making a purchase. Most iPhones made since 2018 and many new Android models are compatible. You can check your device’s compatibility here . To find out if your phone is network unlocked follow our guide here.

You can’t make regular network calls or send SMS with your eSIM, but you can keep your existing SIM active if you still want access to these services. Just make sure you confirm any charges with your network provider before you travel. And remember, while Uswitch eSIM plans are designed just for data, you can still use messaging and voice apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, iMessage and more. These apps all work great with the data connection your Uswitch eSIM provides.

Setting up your eSIM is easy, and we’ll send a step by step guide after purchase. Alternatively, you can head to our eSIM installation guide here.

First, you need to make sure you’ve got a reliable internet connection, so make sure you’re connected to Wi-FI. The general steps are:

  • Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Add Data Plan. Note: This can vary depending on your model. If you can’t see this option, find your steps here.
  • Turn on mobile data and data roaming
  • Scan the QR code. Open the camera and scan the code in the email you received after buying your eSIM . The easiest way to do this is by printing out your email or saving the code on your computer screen.
  • Once the QR code is scanned, you can download your eSIM straight to your mobile device.
  • Choose a name for your data plan  (e.g., “Travel eSIM”).
  • Select the option for “data only”. As our eSIMs are for data, you can keep your regular SIM if you want to make network calls or send SMS texts.
  • IMPORTANT: Make sure you turn off data roaming on your main SIM to avoid being charged by your home carrier.

Yes! Our eSIM is for data only, so you can keep your original physical SIM card or another eSIM active in your device for calls and texts. If your device has dual-SIM functionality, your original number will remain active for calls, texts, and apps like WhatsApp.

An annual data pass gives you a set amount of data to use over a 12-month period, starting from the date of purchase. It's a single, one-time payment for a yearly allotment of data, so you don't have to worry about monthly bills. We offer several plans to fit your needs, including 1 GB, 2 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB, and 10 GB.

The data pass covers a wide range of popular destinations across the globe. To see the full list of all 130 countries and to check if your specific destination is covered, please refer to the map at the top of this page.

Yes, your data allowance is a monthly allotment that resets on the same day each month, for 12 months. For example, if you purchase a 5 GB plan on January 15th, you will receive 5 GB of data to use until February 14th. On February 15th, your data will reset back to 5 GB, and so on for the entire year.

No problem! You can easily top up your data. Just log in to My Account and purchase an additional data bundle. We offer several top-up options to get you through the rest of the month: 3 GB (valid for 5 days); 5 GB (valid for 10 days); 10 GB (valid for 15 days)

To top up, simply:

  1. Go to My Account.
  2. Find your eSIM and click Top up.
  3. Choose the data bundle that best fits your needs.

Your 12-month period begins on the date of purchase. For example, if you buy your pass on June 5th, 2024, it will be valid until June 4th, 2025.

You can cancel your plan and receive a full refund within fourteen (14) days of your purchase, provided the plan has not been activated. For more details, please consult our Terms and Conditions.

To top up your data, log in to My Account and select your Travel Pass eSIM. Click on the Top Up button to complete your purchase. For a step-by-step guide, you can refer to our Top-up instructions.

Your monthly data allowance resets automatically on the same day each month for the full amount of your chosen plan.

To view your current data usage and plan details, follow these steps in My Account:

  1. Access your "My Account" section.
  2. Locate the eSIM plan you wish to check.
  3. Click the "Details" button associated with that plan.

The Details page provides a complete overview, including:

  • Your remaining Data Usage.
  • The plan's Status.

  • A record of all recent eSIM activity since activation.
